Preview: God’s people must be dedicated to His service.

Scripture Reading: I Corinthians 1:2-10.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 10:14.

1. Do we understand from the foregoing Scriptures that God’s children are a holy people, called out and set apart for God’s service?
Note: Sanctification means: to set aside as holy, being free from the practice of sin. God’s people are to walk a straight and narrow way.
2. Did Paul’s inspired prayer set the standard for Christian living? I Thessalonians 5:23-24.
Note: God’s Holy Spirit calls us to come. When we answer the call with sincerity, His Spirit sets us aside for godly service.
3. Is chastisement necessary for our sanctification? Hebrews 12:5-10.
4. What does chastisement accomplish in a Christian’s life? Hebrews 12:11-16.
Note: Trials test our faith and show us where our priorities are. God already knows what is in our heart, but He wants us to see ourselves.
5. Why did Christ offer Himself as a sacrifice? Ephesians 5:25-27.
Note: Jesus loved us so much that He was willing to take all of man’s sin and sickness on Himself and suffer the agony and shame of the most cruel death possible so that all sinners could be sanctified.
6. Why was it necessary for Him to die in order to accomplish our sanctification? Hebrews 9:11-16.
7. What are the fruits of sanctification? I Thessalonians 4:1-7 & I Thessalonians 5:15-22.
8. What are we guilty of when we fail to respond to this call? I Thessalonians 4:8 & Luke 10:16.
Note: If there is no visible change in our life, we have not received God’s sanctification. We show disrespect and lack of faith through our attitude and conduct toward God and His witnesses when we rebel.
9. Can we inherit the Kingdom of God without sanctification? Acts 20:32 & Acts 26:18.
Note: No unclean or sinful thing will enter God’s Kingdom. Only those who are called by the Spirit and made Holy by the Blood of Christ will be there. All of God’s people are sanctified and called to be witnesses of God’s Word by the way they act and the words of their mouths. All will not receive it, but we must proclaim it with holy boldness and godly love. Many are called, few are chosen because most are unwilling to meet the requirements through faith and obedience.
