Preview: This is part two of a two-part lesson on the subject of purity.

Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-11.

Memory Verse: Genesis 6:12.

1. Discuss the condition and results of man’s impurity as recorded in the Scripture Reading.
2. What will the pure in heart do? Ephesians 4:22-25.
3. What is another characteristic of the pure in heart? Ephesians 4:29-32.
4. Contrast the works of the flesh with the pure in heart. Galatians 5:19-23.
5. What makes the difference? Galatians 5:24-26.
Note: It will be impossible for any but the pure in heart to dwell in the Kingdom of God.
6. Consider Solomon’s instructions concerning purity. Proverbs 6:20-33 & Proverbs 7:1-27.
Note: This lesson has been sorely neglected in our society, homes, and Churches today and we are beginning to reap the sad results. Our youth are being taught that EVIL is GOOD and GOOD is STUPID.
7. What shows us the impurity of Lot’s heart? Genesis 13:5-11.
Note: Lot showed a spirit of greed and selfishness when he chose for himself what appeared to be the best land.
8. What was his next step downward? Genesis 13:12-13.
9. What was the sad result of his choices? Genesis 19:12-16, Genesis 19:24-26 & Genesis 19:30-38.
Note: Lot considered himself a man of God, but he put his own selfish desires before the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. He went away from God and did not even know it. His family was destroyed.
10. What are we told to do to avoid this condition? Matthew 6:31-34.
11. Consider the contrast of Abraham’s attitude and the results. Genesis 13:9, Genesis 13:14-18, Genesis 18:18-33 & Genesis 19:29.
Note: Abraham sought God first, he was concerned for his fellowman, and God blessed him in every way.
God’s people watch their conduct and attitude. This is influenced by what we are entertained by, who we socialize with, and what our attitude is toward material gain. The love of money is the root of all evil. I Timothy 6:10.
